Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has put the road infrastructure delivered by his administration at about 1,600 kilometres, as he inaugurated the newly completed Adesan-Abere Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
Abiodun gave the figure while commissioning the road; he presented the project as part of his administration’s wider effort to extend road construction and rehabilitation beyond major urban centres to communities across the state.
The governor said the intervention had covered all three senatorial districts, while Ogun Central alone accounted for 42 roads constructed or reconstructed over the past seven years.
He identified communities and corridors that have benefited from the projects as Abeokuta, Panseke, Adigbe, Arepo, Siun-Owode, Mowe-Ofada, and Magboro, among others.
Abiodun linked the geographical spread of the projects to his pledge to ensure that public infrastructure is distributed across the state on the basis of fairness and equity.

He said his administration had been committed to that principle in deciding where road projects should be undertaken, rather than concentrating development in particular parts of the state.
The newly completed Adesan-Abere Road, located in Obafemi Owode, is expected by the state government to strengthen connections within the area and make movement easier for residents, commuters, and businesses.
Abiodun dedicated the road to the glory of God and the benefit of the communities it serves, while pointing to improved connectivity and economic activity as some of the expected gains from the project.
The governor also indicated that the administration would continue work on roads and other projects already under construction as it approaches the end of its tenure.
He further expressed confidence that the infrastructure programme would be sustained through continuity in governance, and that ongoing development should not be disrupted by changes in administration.
The road commissioning also provided an occasion for the governor to restate his administration’s infrastructure agenda, with the 1,600km figure serving as the latest measure of the scale of road construction and reconstruction undertaken since he assumed office.
However, the figure given by the governor covers roads constructed or reconstructed since the beginning of his administration and was not broken down in the statement by individual projects, road lengths, completion dates or expenditure.
Abiodun urged residents to continue to support the development efforts across the state, declaring, “Igbega Ipinle Ogun, ajose gbogbo wa ni!”, meaning that the advancement of Ogun State is a collective responsibility.
The governor’s remarks came against the backdrop of the commissioning of the Adesan-Abere Road, which he said was another addition to the state’s road network and part of his administration’s continuing infrastructure programme.
