Arewa Youth Backs State House Position On PFIPC, Says Gbajabiamila Acted As Whistle-blower

ABUJA – The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has welcomed the State House’s clarification on the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), saying the official statement supports the position that the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, acted promptly by reporting the matter to security agencies.

In a statement issued by its National President, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, the group commended Gbajabiamila for what it described as his role in alerting the authorities after allegedly discovering suspicious activities linked to the PFIPC.

The AYCF said the statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, provided the government’s account of the events and detailed allegations that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew forged official documents and operated a non-existent government agency.

According to the group, the State House explained that Gbajabiamila reported the matter to the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force on October 17, 2025, following complaints from officials of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) about an organisation allegedly operating in conflict with its mandate.

The forum said the Chief of Staff’s decision to notify security agencies demonstrated vigilance and a commitment to protecting the integrity of the Presidency.

“We commend the Chief of Staff for reporting the matter to the DSS and the Police as soon as concerns were brought to his attention. His action reflects a commitment to accountability and the rule of law,” the statement said.

The AYCF also highlighted Gbajabiamila’s public service record, describing him as a politician who has consistently supported legislative reforms and measures aimed at promoting transparency during his years in the National Assembly.

The group maintained that his past record was consistent with the role attributed to him in the State House statement, adding that he had demonstrated leadership by referring the matter to the appropriate security agencies.

The forum, however, criticised the allegations made against the Chief of Staff by Prince Adeyemi, arguing that the claims should be tested through the judicial process rather than in the media.

It further noted that the matter is already before the courts and urged politicians and members of the public to avoid making prejudicial comments that could interfere with ongoing legal proceedings.

The AYCF reaffirmed its support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and called on Nigerians, particularly young people, to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes while allowing the courts to determine the facts surrounding the PFIPC controversy.
