The one-act play, EBO (The Offering) will leave you gasping for more in a suspenseful atmosphere while peeling off the layered intricacies of friendship, love, faith, trust, matchmaking, betrayal and the usual festivities that surround wedding ceremonies in Lagos, Nigeria.
Presented by B-Rated Productions, EBO (The Offering) was staged on Friday July 10th and will be performed again on Sunday July 12th, 2026 at the Guest Quarters (GQ), 16, Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos. On Friday, curtain rises by 7pm, while there will be two sessions on Sunday at 5pm and 7pm respectively.
The producer and actor Tosin Adeyemi said stepping into EBO (The Offering) “is the ultimate test of artistic discipline” because, as a one-woman show, the visible weight of the production rests squarely on her shoulders.
“On one hand, I am heavily involved as a producer, managing the entire project from budget allocation, to logistics and coordination. Balancing operations grit while trying to memorize lines, embody the character, and safely hold a deeply vulnerable, emotional space for the audience is an immense responsibility” Adeyemi added.
In the captivating play, Tosin Adeyemi as Simi Adeyinka-Cole, is doing what many of us do too well — getting dressed for someone else’s happiest day while quietly carrying every unfinished question about her own life.
Directed by Bimbo Olorunmola, EBO (The Offering) is funny. It’s honest. It’s all of us. While fielding question, Olorunmola said this weekend is a culmination of an incredible journey that will offer the audience a sumptuous and satisfying experience.
“The high point for me would be when Simi realizes that Kemi and aunty Ngozi colluded to match-make her with someone. On one hand, it feels like the ultimate betrayal where one’s best friend and confidante seemingly sides with everyone else in “trying to fix” Simi with a partner, whereas she sees herself as “complete and unbroken”. This is something Kemi knows more than anyone else that she strongly abhors, thus heightening the feeling of betrayal. On the other hand, Simi also understands that Kemi has acted purely out of love and a genuine interest in her well-being”, Olorunmola disclosed.
EBO (The Offering) is officially PG-rated rather than strictly age-restricted. There is nothing to stop a 12-year or 14-year-old from enjoying the stage play. The production simply speaks to an audience of any age bracket that is ready for profound, layered storytelling.
