FG Flags Off 700 Kilometres Legacy Road Project In Nasarawa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday flagged off supper high way Akwanga -Jos -Bauchi/ Gombe-Biu to Maiduguri road as part of federal commitment to ensure safety motorists and commuters in the region.
Speaking while flagging off the road President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Tinubu said that the construction of the Super Highway road project
will drive development and enhance connectivity in the region.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was represented by the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, explained that the project was a critical component of the federal government’s road infrastructure development program aim at enhancing connectivity, improving road safety and stimulating socio-economic activities along the region.
According to Mr.President ,” On the 4th June 2026, I performed similar feat at Gombe Biu, in Gombe to Borno State, which is section 2 of the fourth legacy project running from Akwanga, Kaduna, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, Biu and Maiduguri 700 kilometers by six lanes.
”It is important to know that this legacy project was approved by Federal executive council to be procured, awarded and constructed in sections.
“In section 1, phase 1 of the Akwanga Maiduguri Super Highway is a 125 kilometers stretch spanning from Akwanga, Kaduna to Jos in Nasarawa, Kaduna and Plateau state as part of the larger 700 kilometer Akwanga Maiduguri Super Highway cutting and cross five state, north eastern state of the country.
Nentawe Yilwatda explained that Akwanga, Kaduna to Jos was 125 kilometers while Jos, Bauchi was135 kilometers, others are: Bauchi to Gombe was 162 kilometers and Gombe to Biu, was 125 kilometers to Maiduguri 188 kilometers total 700 kilometers.
HE also said that the if complete was not only road that link to states a lone but a road that can drive economic development to benefit communities and cities market within the routes.
“They are commercial nerves, they are agricultural zones, they are security passages and capitals of cities and a gateway into one of Nigeria’s most important region of the country,” he added.
Tinubu, further explained that,” Other Legacy Routes I want to comment mobilization of the construction execution Jos Maiduguri.
Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway
Section 1 (in Lagos) this road has been substantially completed.
He however added there were sixty one (61) emergency intervention across the North Central, the highest across the country and most of them had already completed.
Also speaking during flagged off, minister of works David Omahi who apart from described the project as legacy project, said that three weeks ago Federal Government flagged off section of two stretch of road that is taking off from Akwanga passing through Kaduna, passing through Jos, to Bauchi, to Gombe.
David Omahi, also said that Federal Government was going to incorporate Yobe to Gombe to Biu and to Maiduguri; adding that the entire stretch of the road was 700 kilometers.
The minister of works said that,” The first legacy project of Mr. President is 750 kilometres cutting through Lagos to Ondo to Edo, Edo to Delta, Delta to Bayelsa, Bayelsa to Rivers, Rivers to Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.
“The third legacy project is taking off from Cross River, where the first legacy project stopped. And that is going from Cross River to Ebonyi, where the first section is ongoing, and from Ebonyi, the second section has just been approved, and it is ongoing,” he added.
