Fubara Set to Present Rivers 2026 Budget to State Assembly

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is expected to present the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill to the House of Assembly on Friday, following the approval of the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework.
The budget presentation is scheduled to take place at the Assembly Quarters Auditorium, where lawmakers have been holding sittings since the Assembly complex was damaged during the state’s political crisis.
A Government House source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to comment publicly, said preparations had been concluded for the presentation.
“Everything is set for the governor to present the 2026 budget to the House today,” the source said.
The presentation comes after months of delay linked to the political dispute between Governor Fubara and the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly.
During the period of emergency rule in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu transmitted the state’s budget to the Senate for approval following the appointment of retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as sole administrator. Ibas later confirmed that the Senate-approved budget had been received and implemented.
