Gombe JPDA Project Update: One-Megawatt Solar Mini-Grid Nears Completion in Tallase And Swa, Ending Over 15 Years Of Darkness

The Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya administration is on the verge of restoring electricity to Tallase and Swa communities in Balanga Local Government Area through the construction of a one-megawatt solar mini-grid, which has now reached 95% completion.

The project, executed by Gombe State Government, through the Joint Projects Development Agency (JPDA), was awarded by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, as part of his commitment to reviving socio-economic activities, boosting agricultural productivity, and improving the quality of life in underserved communities.

For more than 15 years, the two communities have lived without public electricity.

With the project nearing completion, residents are set to enjoy reliable and sustainable power supply that will stimulate businesses, enhance livelihoods and support local development.

Beyond Tallase and Swa, 52 other communities across Gombe State are lined up to benefit from similar solar mini-grid projects under the Governor’s rural electrification programme, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to expanding access to clean, affordable and reliable energy across the state.
