Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved a N25 million financial support package for veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu to assist with her ongoing medical treatment.
The funds were reportedly paid directly into the account of the hospital where the actress is currently receiving care on Wednesday. The development was made public by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Dr. Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins.
In a statement shared via his official X account on Thursday, JMartins confirmed that Governor Otti had fulfilled his promise by authorising the release of the money for the actress’ medical expenses.
He wrote, “Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency @alexottiofr, our pragmatic leader, made good his promise, directing a N25 million payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress, Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment.”
JMartins also commended the governor for his generosity and show of compassion, expressing gratitude for his intervention and support towards the veteran actress.
“We thank you immensely for your support and kindness of heart, sir. History will be kind to you,” he added.
The announcement comes shortly after JMartins revealed on Tuesday that Governor Otti had approved an initial financial intervention for Ngozi Nwosu following concerns over her health condition.
Ngozi Nwosu remains one of Nollywood’s most celebrated veteran actresses, having built a remarkable career through her outstanding performances in several films and television productions. She is regarded as one of the influential figures who contributed to the growth and development of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
