By Jabiru Hassan, Kano
Residents of Gudau-Jola community in Gagarin Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, have appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to rehabilitate the 2.5-kilometre feeder road linking the community to neighbouring villages. The residents said the road has deteriorated significantly, particularly during the rainy season, making transportation difficult for motorists and commuters.
A visit to the area by our correspondent observed sections of the road in poor condition, with some motorists reportedly taking longer alternative routes while others resort to walking because of its state.
Community spokesperson, Malam Ahmadu Jola, said the road serves Gudau-Jola, Yar Gudau, Zaura, Kirya, Kyauta Ruga, Dan Amar and parts of Masha communities, stressing that its rehabilitation would improve access and economic activities in the area. “We need a good road, and we are appealing to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to come to our aid by ensuring its rehabilitation,” he said.
Jola noted that residents have continued to support democratic processes and expressed hope that the state government would respond to their appeal. He also commended the governor’s administration for its efforts in addressing public infrastructure needs across the state. The residents urged the Kano State Government to prioritise the road project to improve mobility, ease the movement of agricultural produce and enhance access to surrounding communities.
