Reality TV star Mercy Eke has opened up about a thoughtful gesture from her boyfriend, saying it wasn’t about the money but the thought behind it that made her feel loved.

Speaking during a recent interview with media personality, Toke Makinwa, the BBNaija star revealed that she was craving seafood and decided to send a photo of what she wanted to her boyfriend.

According to Mercy, although the seafood cost about ₦135,000 and she could comfortably afford it herself, her boyfriend sent her ₦150,000 without hesitation.

“I was craving seafood and I sent it to my boyfriend, and he sent me ₦150K. It was actually ₦135K from the seller. He knows I have the money. He knows I can buy the whole thing, but he still sent it,” she said.

Mercy added that the gesture reminded her that every woman wants to feel cared for, regardless of her financial status.

She further stressed that she doesn’t want a man to assume she can always handle everything on her own simply because she has money.

“That is what I’m talking about. Don’t look at me like I can handle it. I want to feel loved. I want to feel like you are in charge.

“And that doesn’t mean he won’t still give me ₦100 million or ₦50 million, but that ₦150K, I’ll cherish it. But some guys will be like, ‘What is this for? You can afford it,” she added.

In a previous report by Gistreel, Mercy Eke opened up about one of her regrets after participating in Big Brother Naija, revealing that the reality show has made it more difficult for her to find a life partner.
