The Kaduna State Government has received with deep sorrow reports of the killing of persons following an attack on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area, a border community between Kaduna State and Ganawuri in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attack resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of property.
According to a press release by the Commissioner for Information, the Kaduna State Government strongly condemns the attack and has directed security agencies to intensify operations to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Governor Uba Sani extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, prays for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased, and the speedy recovery of the injured., He has also directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) to provide immediate relief and humanitarian support to affected families.
The Kaduna State Government also reaffirms its commitment to working with the Plateau State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to strengthen security cooperation, restore lasting peace and protect lives and property along the Kaduna–Plateau border.
The Government urges residents to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding and also support security agencies with credible information, while rejecting violence and embracing dialogue. The Kaduna State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding every community and sustaining peace, security and social harmony across the State.
Sources say over 30 people, including women and children, were killed during the attack.
