Governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Kano State, Amb. Dr. Mukhtar Gashash, has appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo to embrace dialogue and reconciliation amid their reported political differences.
In an open letter addressed to the two leaders, Gashash urged them to prioritise peace, mutual respect and statesmanship, noting that their previous collaboration in public office should serve as a foundation for constructive engagement despite political disagreements. He said political differences are a normal part of democracy but should not result in personal attacks or actions capable of deepening divisions among supporters.
According to Gashash, leaders have a responsibility to promote peaceful coexistence and set positive examples for younger generations through their conduct and public statements. The Accord Party candidate also encouraged both leaders to focus political competition on policies, governance and service to the people rather than personal disputes. Quoting Qur’an 3:103, he urged the leaders to uphold the values of unity and reconciliation, adding that forgiveness and restraint strengthen leadership and contribute to social harmony.
Gashash further called on political stakeholders in Kano State to work together in addressing the state’s development challenges through dialogue and mutual respect. He prayed for lasting peace, unity and progress in Kano State and urged all political actors to place the public interest above partisan differences.
