Lagos Taskforce Arrests 26 Suspects In Clean-Up Raid, Recovers Suspected Hard Drugs

The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 26 suspects during a coordinated enforcement operation aimed at removing street urchins, miscreants, drug peddlers, illegal commercial motorcycle riders, street traders and other criminal elements from parts of the state.
The operation, which commenced at about 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, formed part of the agency’s ongoing clean-up and enforcement exercise to improve public safety, restore environmental sanity and enforce relevant state laws.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the enforcement team carried out raids at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island and the Obalende Underbridge.
During the exercise, operatives arrested 26 suspects and recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado and other illicit drugs.
The agency said normalcy had been restored in the affected locations following the operation.
It added that all the suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, and the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
The Taskforce reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining enforcement operations across the state as part of efforts to rid Lagos of criminal elements and ensure a safer environment for residents.
