Former Oyo State Deputy Governor, Taofeek Arapaja, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), months after parting ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defection of the former deputy governor was disclosed on Sunday by APC chieftain, Ayekooto Akindele, in a post shared on X.
Arapaja, who was a close ally of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, recently resigned from the PDP, where he served as the National Secretary of the Makinde-backed Turaki faction.
Speculation about his move to the APC intensified after he reportedly held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja and later met with prominent APC leaders from Oyo State at his Abuja residence.
Arapaja previously served as Chairman of a local government council and was also the PDP Deputy National Chairman (South).
He represented the Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the PDP platform from 2003 to 2007.
He later served as Deputy Governor of Oyo State under the late Adebayo Alao-Akala between 2007 and 2011.
