ABUJA – The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) have inaugurated the Technical Committee for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026, with a mandate to position Abuja’s tourism attractions at the heart of the global event.
The committee was inaugurated at the NTDA headquarters in Abuja by the Director-General of NTDA, Mr. Ola Awakan, alongside the President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, a statement said on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the two organisations tasked committee members with developing a tourism and entertainment programme that will give international delegates a memorable experience of the Federal Capital Territory and its surrounding destinations.
The initiative is part of preparations for the World Public Relations Forum 2026 and the Naija Flavour International Tourism (NAFITO) Expo, both scheduled to hold in Abuja in November.
According to the organisers, the committee will design activities highlighting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, tourism assets, hospitality industry, creative economy and theatre, with the aim of strengthening the country’s global image.
The organisers said the collaboration between NIPR and NTDA underscores a shared commitment to using tourism, entertainment and strategic public relations to project Nigeria positively on the international stage.
More than 150 countries are expected to participate in the World Public Relations Forum, with the committee expected to deliver authentic experiences that will showcase Nigeria’s diversity and leave a lasting impression on delegates.
