Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has commended the people of Ekinrin-Adde in Ijumu Local Government Area for their commitment to community-driven development through self-help projects.
Represented by Deputy Governor Joel Oyibo at the 2026 Ekinrin-Adde Community Day celebration, Ododo described the community’s ₦750 million development fund as a strong demonstration of collective commitment to improving local infrastructure and living standards.
He urged other communities across Kogi State to complement government efforts by initiating development projects that address local needs. The governor said his administration remains committed to improving infrastructure, education, agriculture and rural development across the state. Ododo also called on residents to sustain peace, unity and cooperation, noting that these values have contributed to the community’s progress.
In his remarks, Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Ibrahim Haruna, said the annual event promotes self-help development initiatives and preserves the community’s cultural heritage. He encouraged residents to continue supporting projects that improve the quality of life in Ekinrin-Adde.
Haruna also urged residents to remain security-conscious by sharing useful information with security agencies to help tackle criminal activities. Representatives of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum attended the event. Governor Zulum donated ₦50 million to support the community’s ₦750 million development fund for self-help projects.
