Actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has weighed in on the ongoing “Olodo Uprising” online debate, arguing that the issue stems from a systemic devaluation of formal education rather than mere ignorance.
In a post shared on her Instagram story, Njoku stated that what many critics label as an “Olodo Uprising” is the direct consequence of a system that consistently fails to reward academic excellence and intellectual achievement.
According to the filmmaker, citizens cannot be expected to spend years pursuing academic degrees only to face long-term unemployment or poor remuneration upon graduation. She noted that when economic survival becomes the primary priority, individuals naturally migrate toward opportunities that offer immediate financial viability.
Njoku concluded by stating that the public should not blame individuals for adapting to economic realities, but should instead question a system that makes formal education feel like an unprofitable investment.
