Osun APC Commends Police Over Arrest Of Hoodlum During NURTW Fracas

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has commended the state Police Command for the arrest of a suspected political hoodlum,
Saheed Oyeyemi Adedeji.

In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC said the arrest demonstrates the police command’s professional readiness to check the militarisation of the electoral process.

Adedeji was reportedly arrested in Osogbo on Monday with military uniforms, pump action rifles and ammunition in his possession.

The suspect allegedly shot three officers during a fracas that occurred between rival factions of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers on Monday.

The statement noted that Adedeji serves as a Personal Assistant to Nurudeen Wakili, the factional chairman of NURTW in the state.

The APC stated that during interrogation, the suspect alleged that the weapons recovered from him belong to his principal, Nurudeen Alowonle.

While commending the police, the APC urged the command not to relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements before the election.

The party also called for a thorough investigation and prosecution of all those mentioned by the suspect, regardless of political affiliation.

The APC further alleged that some officials in the Adeleke administration are making behind-the-scenes efforts to secure the suspect’s release.

The party said it would be wrong for anyone to use constitutional immunity to shield political hoodlums from arrest and prosecution.
