Osun APC Elder Urges Restraint, Clarifies Reason For Timi Ede’s Absence During Oyebamiji’s Visit

Says Party Duly Informed Of Monarch’s Absence

A member of the Osun State All Progressives Congress Elders Caucus (Igbimo Agba), Alhaji Gbedebo Ajao, has explained the main reason for the absence of the Timi of Edeland, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, during a royal call to his palace by the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Mr Bola Oyebamiji and his team on Tuesday.

NAIJAONPOINT reports that members of the APC have taken to social media to voice their displeasure at the absence of the monarch, suggesting the situation might be because the incumbent governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is from Ede.

The APC members said the monarch should have received the party campaign team and played a fatherly role instead of being consciously absent at the palace.

But reacting to one of …s on Facebook by Awwal Tunde Alawo.

Alawo had written, “I think Baba Kabiyesi Timi of Ede land should be more displayed a fatherly role to all. The first one was his closure of his gate against the ADC Governorship Candidate, Rt Hon Najeem Salaam, two weeks ago. Now, against the APC Governorship Candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji, too today.

“The incumbent Governor, who is a son from Ede town, has visited these two towns’ Kings (Ogiyan of Ejigbo and Akire of Ikire), and they welcomed him so wonderful and beautiful even prayed for him, but Kabiyesi Timi denied the same gesture against his son’s opponents.

“This isn’t a good gesture from the Timi. Baba should behave more matured and be a father to all.”

But the APC chieftain, in his reply, explained that the absence of the Timi of Ede during the visit was due to a royal engagement in Ile-Ife.

Ajao said all Obas in the Ede/Egbedore traditional council had a scheduled meeting with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to commiserate with him over the demise of his senior brother.

“We were duly informed, and we fact-checked this information to be true. They even requested for a new date,” Ajao wrote in reply to the Facebook post.
