A newly married woman has sparked widespread reactions on social media after revealing that she is considering ending her marriage just two months after her wedding.
In a viral video, the pregnant woman said a disagreement over financial commitments and what she described as her husband’s unwillingness to reciprocate her trust had left her questioning the future of their relationship.
According to her, she owned a successful perfume business before getting married. While they were dating and planning their wedding, her husband suggested that she add him as the next of kin on her bank account in case anything happened to her.
She said she agreed without hesitation because she loved and trusted him.
“Because I loved this man, I didn’t think twice. The next day I took him to the bank and I added his name as next of kin in my bank account with some kind of benefit attached to it,” she recalled.
After their marriage, she said she discovered that her husband had been building five apartments, three of which had already been completed and rented out.
Wanting the same level of commitment, she asked him to also make her his next of kin or beneficiary, particularly because she was pregnant with their first child together.
However, she claimed he rejected the request and accused her of trying to rush him.
“I told this man that I want him to add me as a beneficiary to his bank account, as his next of kin, the way I did mine. But this man said I’m in a hurry. Why should I be telling him what to do?” she alleged.
According to the woman, his response completely changed the way she viewed him and made her feel he was unwilling to reciprocate the trust she had shown him.
She said the disagreement eventually became so serious that she left their home and returned to her parents’ house.
The woman further claimed that despite being away for more than a week, her husband had not called or checked on her, even though he knew she was pregnant.
“This is the same man that knows that I’m carrying his child. He has not called me,” she said.
She admitted she had begun questioning whether her husband truly loved her or had only married her because he wanted children.
The woman also revealed that she had suggested they spend some time apart to reconsider the marriage, but said her husband appeared unbothered by the proposal.
Now contemplating divorce, she said she was also considering returning his bride price and raising the child on her own, although she remained uncertain about the best decision.
Seeking advice from social media users, she asked whether she should give her husband more time to change or move on from the marriage altogether.
Her emotional account has since generated mixed reactions online, with many urging the couple to seek counselling and communicate openly before making any irreversible decisions, while others sympathised with her concerns about trust and reciprocity in marriage.
