REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO QUALITY HEALTHCARE
St. Ives Specialist Hospital marked the celebration of its 30th anniversary with a media press conference in Lagos, highlighting three decades of excellence in women’s health, paediatrics, family healthcare, fertility treatment, and its commitment to building a lasting healthcare legacy in Nigeria.
The event brought together members of the press, board members, management staff, partners, and other stakeholders to reflect on the hospital’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 1996.
Welcoming guests to the occasion, the hospital’s management described the anniversary as a celebration of not just longevity, but also a legacy of compassion, innovation, and quality healthcare delivery.
According to the organisers, St. Ives has grown from humble beginnings into one of Nigeria’s trusted healthcare institutions, touching countless lives through its expanding network of specialist medical facilities.
The hospital also highlighted its growing digital footprint, noting that it now has over 30,000 Instagram followers who actively engage with its healthcare advocacy and awareness campaigns. It further announced its recent nomination for the prestigious IVF Hospital of the Year award, describing the recognition as evidence of its dedication to advancing reproductive healthcare and helping families fulfil their dreams of parenthood.
Speaking during the press conference, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Okewale Babatunde, traced the hospital’s history to July 10, 1996, when St. Ives first opened its doors at 34 Aromire Avenue, Adeniyi Jones, Lagos, with a vision of providing reliable healthcare services to women, children, and families.
He explained that the hospital later relocated to 90 Opebi Road before expanding its operations across several locations. He noted that its Ikeja branch, which began at 4 Mojidi Street, is now situated at 12 Salvation Road, serving as the hospital’s head office.
According to him, the institution has since established branches in Ikoyi, Abeokuta, Akowonjo, Festac, and most recently Eko Atlantic, reflecting its steady and deliberate growth over the last three decades.
Dr. Babatunde stated that as the hospital expanded, it sharpened its focus on specialist healthcare, particularly in women’s health, paediatrics, family medicine, and fertility care.
He noted that the hospital’s fertility centre has become one of Nigeria’s most trusted IVF facilities, helping thousands of couples battling infertility to become parents over the years.
“Our fertility programme has given many couples who struggled to conceive the opportunity to become parents. We are proud of every family that has grown because of the work done in our fertility units, alongside the comprehensive care we provide throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and childhood,” he said.
The Chief Medical Director also disclosed that St. Ives has earned SafeCare 4-Star Accreditation, describing the recognition as a reflection of the hospital’s commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and patient safety across its facilities.
Looking ahead, Dr. Babatunde said the hospital is now focused on institutional sustainability, stressing that the vision is to build a healthcare institution that will outlive its founders through strong governance structures, capable professionals, and enduring operational standards.
“As we celebrate thirty years, our focus shifts to legacy. We are building St. Ives to outlast any one individual, with the structures, people, and standards in place for the next generation to continue this vision and grow it further,” he said.
The management also expressed appreciation to its board members, medical personnel, partners, and the media for their unwavering support, acknowledging their contributions to the hospital’s growth and achievements over the past three decades.
The 30th anniversary celebration served not only as a reflection on the hospital’s achievements but also as an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to delivering quality, accessible, and patient-centred healthcare while expanding its impact across Nigeria in the years ahead.
