ONITSHA – The Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Awka has received a major facelift from stakeholders following the promotion and decoration of Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).
The renovation initiative, undertaken by stakeholders across the state, was described as a gesture of appreciation for the Command’s achievements under Orutugu’s leadership, particularly in the areas of professional policing, improved public safety, and strengthened police-community relations.
The stakeholders said the facelift was intended to celebrate the newly promoted AIG and acknowledge the progress recorded by the Command in enhancing security and public confidence in policing across Anambra State.
The Command noted that the intervention reflects the growing confidence of residents and stakeholders in the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra, adding that it demonstrates the importance of sustained collaboration between the Police and the public in advancing security and development.
Reacting to the development, the Command expressed appreciation for the support and generosity of the stakeholders, describing the initiative as a source of encouragement to sustain ongoing reforms, improve operational effectiveness, and enhance service delivery.
It reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating existing security gains, deepening community partnerships, and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the state.
The Command also urged residents to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information to strengthen ongoing efforts aimed at preventing and combating crime.
