“This Place Is Like Our Home” — Galamseyer Videos Deep Underground Pit Where They Stay For More Than Three Months In Search Of Gold
A video capturing miners working deep underground at the Brahabebom site in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District of the Western Region has surfaced online, offering a rare glimpse into the scale of operations at the illegal mining hub.
In the footage, one of the miners can be heard saying, “This place is like our home. With enough food and water, we can spend three months here.”
The video shows several men in mining gear moving sacks and supplies through a cavernous underground tunnel, with makeshift wooden supports holding up sections of the excavation.
The Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality remains one of Ghana’s most active illegal mining hotspots, with authorities repeatedly flagging safety risks tied to unregulated underground digging in the area, including collapses and trapped miners in recent years.
