“Time Of War Is Over, It’s Time For Peace” — Fubara Confirms Reconciliation With Wike

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly declared that the prolonged political crisis between him and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has come to an end, urging his supporters to embrace peace and align with the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fubara made the declaration during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Speaking in a in a video uploaded on X and sighted by NAIJAONPOINT, the governor while addressing his supporters said he had fully returned to the political family and urged them to follow suit.

“I am already in the family. I have gone back to our family. Whoever you are, give your total support to that coalition. We need to move forward. The time of war is over; it’s time for peace, and this peace is taking us to another level.

“What you lose here, you gain in another place. That is about life. I want this to be made clear to everybody. I don’t want anyone to go and be saying you’re supporting Fubara. No! No! My position is this, and I’ve said it here clearly for everyone to hear. If you’re not hearing well, use cotton bud or open your ear and let it enter well.

“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. I’ve done what I need to do. For now, we’re moving forward”, he said.

NAIJAONPOINT reports that Fubara’s remarks represent his clearest confirmation that he has reconciled with Wike after nearly three years of bitter political rivalry that plunged Rivers State into one of its worst political crises since the return to democracy.

The Rainbow Coalition, which Fubara urged his supporters to join, is a cross-party political alliance spearheaded by Wike, bringing together his allies across the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other political groups in Rivers State.

As part of his declaration, Fubara announced that he was supporting President Bola Tinubu for a second term and endorsed Kingsley Chinda as his preferred governorship candidate, asking everyone who believes in him to support every candidate presented by the coalition.

The latest development marks a dramatic turnaround in Rivers politics.

Fubara assumed office in May 2023 as Wike’s political protégé but the relationship quickly deteriorated over disagreements on the control of the state’s political structure and governance.

The fallout led to a prolonged supremacy battle that split the Rivers State House of Assembly, triggered the resignation and replacement of commissioners, generated multiple court cases, and resulted in fierce political confrontations between camps loyal to the two leaders.

The crisis repeatedly drew the intervention of President Bola Tinubu, who brokered several peace meetings in an effort to restore stability in the oil-rich state. Although previous reconciliation efforts failed to produce lasting peace, recent political developments have suggested that both camps have finally reached a working agreement.

In May 2026, Fubara announced his withdrawal from the APC governorship primaries, saying personal ambition must give way to the peace, stability and unity of Rivers State. At the time, he appealed to his supporters to accept his decision and remain committed to peace.

His latest public endorsement of the Rainbow Coalition and declaration that he has “returned to the family” appears to seal that reconciliation and signals a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers believe the declaration effectively ends months of speculation over where the governor stood politically, while confirming that the once-fierce contest between the two camps has given way to an alliance centred on the coalition’s electoral strategy in Rivers State
