No fewer than 50 golfers will compete for a prize purse of ₦1 million at the Bini Riva Golf Tournament, organised as part of activities marking the fifth coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III.
The Special Kitty Golf Tournament is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 8 at the CanaanLand Golf and Country Club, Koko, Delta State.
Chairman of CanaanLand Golf Course and Country Club, Hon. Felix Aganbi, said the tournament forms part of a series of activities planned to commemorate five years of the monarch’s leadership, unity and transformation in the Warri Kingdom.
According to him, the event, themed “Five Glorious Years on the Throne,” is expected to attract political and traditional leaders, golf enthusiasts, as well as professional and amateur golfers from across Nigeria and abroad for a day of friendly competition and fellowship.
“High-ranking and influential individuals will celebrate five years of visionary leadership, unity and transformation with our revered King, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III. They will also enjoy an exciting day of golf, fellowship and fun,” Aganbi said.
He disclosed that tee-off is scheduled for in the morning while participants are expected to observe a red-on-white dress code.
The statement described the monarch as a leader noted for his strategic insight, ability to unite people and unwavering commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous kingdom.
It added that CanaanLand Golf and Country Club, Koko, in conjunction with Riva Golf, is organising the Special Kitty Golf Tournament in honour of the King’s fifth coronation anniversary.
Aganbi said 50 golfers would participate in the Bini Riva tournament, adding that the ₦1 million prize money would be presented after the competition at the new Christiana Aganbi Smart Hall.
“We can’t wait to welcome some of the best golfers to Koko. The prize money for the Bini Riva Golf Tournament is One Million Nigerian Naira (₦1,000,000) and will be presented after the game at the new Christiana Aganbi Smart Hall,” he said.
Golfers expected at the tournament include Lady Capt. Lucky Apkeiyi, Princewill Cosmas, Abanum Treasure, Stephen Akpomiemie Asagba, Vicky Ireyefoju, Patience Jones, Elvis Ajise, Otali Uteh, Joy Omorogiuwa, Sala Oise, Atse Alero, Omolara Dukuye, Clement Edewor, Mahmud Suwadetu, Ann Ayegbeni, Peter Igbogbo, Clifford Ogbechi, Dr. Monica Obaedo, Ahwin Precious and Sheila Ebunilo.
Others are John Okojie, Ufuoma Atiyor, Tobi Muhawwal, Charles Egbagbe, Dr. Austin Okogun, Albert Everett, Raymond Ejinyere, Ufuoma Oghoje, Joy Ogbe Kani, Monica Sarufu, Chief James Yelzum, Destiny Okoh, Joe Alex Eyituoyo, Naomi Otugbrigbri, Lt. Col. Emmanuel Umoru, Paul Nwabudike, Sandy Memeh, Doubra Akpomreta, Afoke Iteheri and Osamagbe Osazomwangie.
Also listed for the competition are Okejoto Gochua, Ezinne Nnenna Onyekwere, Yakubu Ibrahim, Uwabor Angela, Efe Uwaifo, Dode Joan, Felix Aganbi, Pro Tony Uduimo, Agbo Osavengbe and Prince Igbinosa.
His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III is the 21st Olu of Warri and the paramount ruler of the Iwere (Warri) Kingdom in Delta State. He ascended the throne on August 21, 2021.
The statement further noted that the Bini Riva Festival attracts thousands of visitors annually and that this year’s edition will feature fishing, art, games and a feast.
