Ihenetu Bags Zik International Peace, Leadership Award For Exemplary Leadership, Peace, Service To Humanity

For exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment to peace and outstanding service to humanity, His Royal Majesty Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, Onyendu Ndigbo Ghana, Ohazurume 1, is set to be honoured with the Zik International Peace and Leadership Award at the Zik International Peace and Leadership Award Lecture, in Accra 2026.
It is in recognition of his leadership journey that continues to inspire Africa and the global community.
The award ceremony, scheduled for August 7, 2026, at the British Council Hall, Accra, Ghana, is anchored on the theme: “Leadership, Peace and Regional Integration: Advancing Africa’s Development in a Changing Global Order.”
For Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, Onyendu Ndigbo Ghana, Ohazurume 1, the honour comes at a significant moment. After years of community leadership in Ghana, his name has become associated with the promotion of Igbo culture, humanitarian intervention, unity and peaceful relations between Nigerians and their host community.
His leadership has also been characterised by a strong sense of responsibility to people in need. His humanitarian activities through the Eze Igbo Foundation, support for vulnerable members of society and interventions aimed at resolving disputes involving Nigerian traders have continued to strengthen his standing as a community leader.
The commitment of Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu to peace was further demonstrated through his acceptance of the Onyendu Ndigbo Ghana designation, which he described as an expression of humility and respect for Igbo traditional institutions. He has also reaffirmed his commitment to unity, cultural advancement and the welfare of his people in the diaspora.
His journey in Ghana dates back to 1995, while he was crowned Eze Ndigbo Ghana in 2012. Over the years, he has positioned his traditional institution as a platform for cultural preservation, community engagement and service.
Speaking on the recognition, Nigerian media expert, public analyst and publisher of 4th Estate Reporters, Njoku Macdonald Obinna, described the honour as a fitting recognition of leadership driven by peace and humanity.
“This is more than an award; it is a recognition of a life committed to peace, unity and service. His Royal Majesty Amb. Dr. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu’s leadership continues to show that true influence is measured by the lives one touches,” Obinna said.
The Zik International Peace and Leadership Award carries a message bigger than the ceremony itself. It celebrates a model of leadership built around peace, unity, responsibility and service to humanity values Africa needs more than ever.
