“We’ll Marry the Beautiful Women and Kpa! the Rest” – Terrorists Threaten 176 Kwara Abductees

• Families of 176 abductees in Kwara State have appealed for urgent government intervention after terrorists reportedly threatened to force some female captives into marriage and kill other hostages if their demands are not met.
• The victims’ families say they have raised over ₦155 million without securing their release and are calling on security agencies to launch a rescue operation similar to the one recently carried out in Oyo State.

Families of at least 176 residents abducted by terrorists in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have appealed to the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to urgently rescue their loved ones after nearly six months in captivity.

The appeal follows reports that the terrorists threatened to marry the “beautiful” female captives and k!ll the remaining hostages if their demands are not met.

Speaking on the BBC Hausa Service, Kaiama indigene Abdul Ibrahim said affected communities had raised over ₦155 million through crowdfunding to secure the victims’ release, but the terrorists reportedly rejected the ransom, leaving the captives in their camps.

According to Ibrahim, families have exhausted every available option, including peaceful protests, without success. He urged the government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts, saying the continued captivity has left families in deep anguish.

“We have done everything within our means. The money was raised, yet our people have not been released. Their suffering continues, and families are living in agony,” he said.

Also speaking, Dan Sardaukin Kaiama, Suleiman Bukata, called on the Federal Government and security agencies to replicate the operation that recently rescued abductees in Oyo State by carrying out a similar mission in Kaiama.

Bukata said the successful Oyo operation had renewed hope among affected families, stressing that Kaiama residents deserved the same level of protection and commitment. He warned that every extra day in captivity exposed the victims to greater danger and hardship.
