Woman Recalls Alleged Abuse, Says Ex-Husband Punched Her Six Weeks After Childbirth

A Nigerian woman, Umeozor Chinwe Stephanie, has opened up about the physical and emotional abuse she says she suffered during her marriage.

Stephanie shared her story in a Facebook post on August 20, 2026, where she recalled an incident in which she alleged that her husband repeatedly punched her about six weeks after she gave birth.

She also shared photos from the alleged incident and said years of keeping painful emotions inside can affect a woman’s appearance, health and overall well-being.

According to Stephanie, she was also accused of using charms to make her former husband marry her before she was allegedly thrown out of the home.

She explained that speaking publicly about her experience is part of her healing process.

Stephanie said she cannot currently afford to see a therapist, so sharing her story has become one of the ways she is dealing with the pain from her past.

“I never knew what it felt like and how painful it is to be beaten by who you accepted to do life with until it happened to me,” she wrote.

“Nobody spoke about the physical abuse nor the emotional abuse I went through in my years of marriage.

“The emotions that has been bottled up in years you feel is not enough to affect the look of a woman?

“Can a woman who charmed a man to marry her be beaten like this? will she be thrown out of what’s rightfully hers? I was accused of many more, avoid manipulative people cause they will never be accountable for what they did.

“This was me with my face after I received punches from my ex husband at one month and two weeks postpartum.

“Omoh see where man dey throw me punch like him dey fight his fellow man.

“God gave me strength that day if not I for die cause eye wey turn me for land me for ground but I stand gidigbam.

“No woman deserve to be with a woman beater and an abuser.

“I ‘m healing, is a gradual thing and this is the process since I can’t afford a therapist.”
