World Cup 2026: CAF reacts as two African countries qualify for Round of 16
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has reacted after two African countries booked their places in the Round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament.
DAILY POST reports that the two African countries that qualified for the World Cup Round of 16 stage are Morocco and Egypt.
Morocco had eliminated the Netherlands in the Round of 32, while Egypt sent Australia packing from the competition.
The two African teams will now face Canada and Argentina, respectively, for a place in the quarter-final stage.
However, in a post on X, CAF expressed happiness over the qualification of Morocco and Egypt to the last-16
The continent’s football powerhouse insisted that the two North African teams are ready for their matches in the last-16.
“Africa marches on. Morocco and Egypt are ready for their Round of 16 clashes,” CAF tweeted on Saturday morning.
