Zuma Agric Radio Hosts University Of Nottingham On Adoption Of Improved Seeds By Farmers

Zuma Agric Radio has played host to the Seeds of Change Farmer Focus Group as part of the University of Nottingham’s three-year Leverhulme Trust-funded research project examining the adoption of improved seed varieties and their effects on smallholder farm households in Nigeria.

The engagement brought together researchers from the University of Nottingham, smallholder farmers, agricultural stakeholders, extension practitioners, community representatives, and other key actors in the agricultural sector to facilitate evidence-based discussions on improved seed adoption, agricultural productivity, and rural livelihoods.

The University of Nottingham research team, led by Dr. Aisha Abubakar, facilitated the technical sessions, engaging directly with participating farmers to gain deeper insights into the opportunities, challenges, and socio-economic realities influencing the adoption of improved seed varieties.

The discussions formed part of the University’s ongoing three-year research project aimed at generating evidence to inform agricultural policy and practice.

Speaking after the engagement, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Zuma Agric Radio, Shuaibu Kere Ahmed, FIAM, said: “Zuma Agric Radio is honoured to support the University of Nottingham’s important research initiative by providing a platform where farmers can share their experiences directly with researchers.

“We believe sustainable agricultural transformation begins by listening to farmers and ensuring that their voices contribute to evidence-based research, policy, and practice.

Zuma Agric Radio expressed appreciation to the University of Nottingham research team led by Dr. Aisha Abubakar, the Leverhulme Trust, participating farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and all partners whose contributions made the engagement successful.
