10 Die In Niger Auto Crash

Ten people have been killed in another fatal auto crash involving a trailer at Badeggi in Katcha local government area of Niger State.

An eyewitness of the accident said the trailer driver was en route the Baddegi-Bida Road to Lagos from one of the North Western states when the crash occurred.

The account revealed that the accident happened when the trailer attempted to dodge a bad portion of the road when it fell.

The chairman of Bida local government area, Alhaji Usman Mohammed Monko, immediately organised a funeral for the victims of the accident at the Abdulrahman Bin Auf Juma’at Mosque Bida, led by the chief imam, Malam Hassan Taye.

Monko described the accident as painful and prayed Allah to forgive the deceased and grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He however appealed for maximum caution on the part of motorists especially tanker drivers plying the road to avoid accidents and safeguard lives and properties.

On the state of Bida- Baddegi- Lapai road, he appealed to the Federal Government to either embark on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road or to close it down completely to avoid further loss of lives.
