2027 Elections: Yobe Emirs Endorse Wali’s Candidature
As part of his consultations with traditional rulers and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Yobe State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Baba Malam Wali, has embarked on a tour across the state.
The tour, which commenced with the Damaturu Emirate, was accompanied by the APC deputy Governorship candidate, Barr: Saleh Samanja, and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the Emir of Damaturu’s palace, Baba Malam Wali noted that his emergence as the candidate was the result of the support and prayers of the royal father and the good people of Yobe State.
He reaffirmed his confidence in serving the people and advancing the state’s development if elected, adding that the visit was to seek the Emir’s blessings for the upcoming elections.
Responding, the Shehu of Damaturu, HRH. Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al’amin El-Kanemi assured the delegation of his support and prayers.
The royal father described Baba Malam Wali as a man of integrity, pointing out that his emergence as the APC governorship candidate was a wise choice for the state.
Baba Malam Wali and his team also visited the Emir of Ngazargamu, HRH Mustapha Ibn Mahmoud, at his palace in Geidam.
At the palace, Baba Malam Wali emphasised that his Administration, if elected, would focus on continuity, consolidation, and innovation.
“If elected, our government will focus on continuity, consolidation, and innovation. We will build on Buni’s legacy and ensure that the good works already started are sustained and completed for the state’s development,” he stated.
He assured his commitment to working closely with the traditional rulers to advance the state’s progress and stability.
Similarly, the Mai Ngazargamu, HRH. Mustapha Ibn Mahmoud assured Baba Malam Wali and his entourage of his support and prayers.
He said his emirate would support what Governor Mai Mala Buni had requested, while praying for the success of Baba Malam Wali’s political journey.
While at Gujba Emirate, Baba Malam Wali commended the Emir for his leadership and commitment to the development of his people.
Responding, the Emir of Gujba, HRH. Mai Muktar Ibn Ali Gangaran counselled the aspirants to regard any electoral victory not as a privilege, but as a sacred trust to serve the people, including farmers, traders, students, elders, and the less privileged.
He charged the aspirants to caution their supporters against any utterances or conduct that could cause crises, emphasising that the electioneering season must not become a season of hostility among the people of the state.
The royal fathers prayed for peace, unity and a successful political process in Yobe State, extending their prayers to the candidate, the APC leadership and the good people of the state.
Earlier, the APC Yobe State Chairman, Mohammed Gadaka, said the delegation’s visits were part of the party’s engagement with traditional institutions and stakeholders across Yobe State.
He said the party recognised the important role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace, unity and stability, noting that the party would continue to seek their guidance, support and prayers as preparations for the 2027 elections progress.
Gadaka expressed confidence in Wali’s capacity to provide responsible leadership and consolidate the achievements of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The visits formed part of Baba Malam Wali’s ongoing consultations with traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders across Yobe state ahead of the 2027 governorship general elections.
