Accra–Nkawkaw: Skilful And Brave STC Driver Reverses Car Quickly, Drives From Scene As Armed Robbers Open Fire On Him Passengers Around 11 PM

A bus travelling from Accra to Nkawkaw has come under gunfire at Akyem Enyiresi at about 11pm yesterday after its driver attempted to flee an armed robbery in progress.
According to the driver of another bus caught up in the incident, armed robbers had stopped vehicles along the route and demanded phones from passengers, which they handed over.
However, the driver of the bullet-riddled bus was reportedly unaware of what was unfolding ahead and, upon arriving at the scene, reversed after realising a robbery was taking place.
The robbers then opened fire on the fleeing bus. The driver managed to escape the scene, and no fatalities have been reported.
The incident has added to a growing list of armed robbery attacks along Eastern Region highway corridors in recent weeks, with similar incidents recorded on the Accra-Kumasi highway around Apedwa Junction, Nkronso, Akooko, and Akyem Asafo in late July, which left several passengers with gunshot injuries.
Police have yet to issue an official statement on the Akyem Enyiresi incident, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made.
