August 15: APC Dismisses Accord’s Allegation Of Police-Aided Rigging Plot As “Product Of Fear”

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has described as false the allegation by the Accord Party that it is plotting with a section of the police command to accommodate electoral officers ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

It would be recalled that the Accord alleged a plot to use police-directed accommodation as a safe haven to write results.

The party, in a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, said the claim exists only in the imagination of the Accord Party leadership and is borne out of fear of an imminent defeat.

The APC accused Accord of raising non-existent issues to justify what it called the inevitable loss of its governorship candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the August 15 poll.

“The allegation is false, which only exists in the imagination of the leadership of the Accord Party in Osun State. It is borne out of the fear of the imminent loss of the party’s governorship candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the forthcoming 15th August, 2026 election,” the statement read.

Olabisi said the Accord leadership has cause to worry because its candidate is “a hard sell” in the state, citing what he described as rejection over his “unenviable past and uneventful present.”

According to the APC, what the Accord Party is doing is to manufacture reasons ahead of the election.

“What the leadership of the Accord Party in Osun State is doing is to justify non-existing reasons for the imminent loss of their governorship candidate in the election,” he stated.

The party further accused the Accord of injecting lies, falsehoods and subterfuge into governance to misinform and disinform the people.

“The people of the state are fed up with the lies, falsehoods and subterfuge injected into governance by the embattled Accord Party’s governorship candidate and the party,” Olabisi said.

He urged Accord’s think tanks to go back to their drawing board as he claimed the ploy has hit the rocks as usual.

Olabisi insisted that the APC governorship candidate does not need to rig to win, describing him as a serious contender with a mission to flush out the incumbent Governor Adeleke from the Bola Ige House through the election.

“Our resourceful and ever pragmatic governorship candidate does not need to rig to win the election. He is not a pretender like the others; he is a serious contender with a mission to flush out the incumbent Governor Adeleke from the Bola Ige House through the election,” the statement added.
