August 15: IPAC Urges Peaceful Poll, Tasks Security, Parents on Credible Election

The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Osun State chapter urged political stakeholders and electorates to ensure the August 15 governorship election is conducted peacefully and without rancour.

The Chairman of IPAC in the state, Dr Tosin Odeyemi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, made the call in a statement issued in Osogbo on Thursday, a copy obtained in Osogbo.

Odeyemi stated that Saturday’s election provides Osun people another opportunity to choose leaders that will drive development in the state, urging the electorate to vote their conscience.

The DLA chairman urged all registered voters to come out en masse to exercise their franchise, noting that abstaining from voting only gives room for undemocratic elements to decide the future of the state.

He said, “Going to vote is your civic responsibility. Do not sell your vote. Do not allow anyone to intimidate you. Your PVC is your power to determine who governs you for the next four years.”

“Any act of ballot snatching, thuggery or violence must be dealt with decisively in line with the law,” Odeyemi stated.

He further appealed to parents and guardians to warn their wards against being used as political thugs or for any act capable of disrupting the peace of the state.
