‎Davido : A Worthy Asset To Governor Adeleke’s Re-Election Campaign

‎The power of a brand, influencer and music export like Afrobeats artiste David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, indeed played out in the triumph of incumbent Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, in the governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

‎Having been appointed in April 2026 as‎ the Head of Youth Mobilisation for his campaign council ahead of the 2026 governorship election, Davido can be said to have done a good job because of the result – a win for his uncle and governor.

‎The task was to drive youth engagement and support for the governor’s re-election campaign. One may not know the extent of how he carried out the task of moblisers of youths, but it is noteworthy that Davido inaugurated a youth committee and swore in local coordinators across Osun State to lead grassroots mobilization. The initiative operated under the IMOLE Youth Mobilization banner to strengthen voter support.

‎Davido, who has the highest Instagram followers as a Nigerian Artiste and fourth highest as an African Artiste in aggregate social media followership- with thirty-one million Instagram followers- used his platform to create awareness of the election and to show support for the Accord Party flag bearer.

‎The singer, days ago, sent an open letter to United States President Donald Trump to throw the searchlight on Osun State, and narratives of planned violence to be used to dissuade persons from voting were brought to the fore.

‎In politics, attacks on the personality of politicians seem inevitable; Davido was available to reply to some of the attacks hurled at the Osun State Governor, using his social media platform.

‎Davido had sent messages online to fellow governors and politicians who disparaged the qualities of Senator Ademola Adeleke, using his dancing attribute against him.

‎Despite releasing his album during the build-up to the election campaign, the musician was said to have stopped the promotion of it to face the election campaign as head of youth mobilization.

‎A political analyst, Isaac Daniels, stated that every politician will want a voice like Davido in his corner to influence narratives and opinions of the people. “Davido has done well for Osun State Government as a proud indigene and has played a good role in helping his uncle’s re-election. Though we know that he played to the gallery and fought battles for his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke. It’s allowed in politics. He is an influencer and has a massive appeal, which he put to use. Now we expect the Osun Governor to make governance more attractive and correct the allegations against him by the opposition by making his next four year very productive with results,” says Daniels.

‎Already Davido is planning a “Thank You” concert in Osun State to appreciate the voters.
