The Initiative For Youth Awareness on Migration, Immigration, Development and Reintegration, IYAMIDR, Nigeria, has given kudos to the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for giving governance a human face which, it said, brought happiness to the majority of the people of the state.
The Executive Director of IYAMIDR Nigeria, a development and advocacy organization that has been mounting campaigns on illegal immigration, in a statement after an assessment visit to Bayelsa with his team, noted that Governor Diri’s extraordinary and people-centric leadership deserves the encomiums being showered on him.
According to Okuduwa, IYAMIDR Nigeria does not issue statements to praise people for praise’s sake; we speak because we have walked the roads, entered the communities, and listened to the people during our visit to the state.
“When development is real, it must be amplified. When leadership is courageous, it must be documented for history, and we have every reason to give kudos to Governor Diri for his extraordinary performance that is quietly changing the face of the state and bringing happiness to the people.
“The delegation that was received and conducted round the state by Apostle Alfred Uyinosa discovered that the Bayelsa State governor’s transformative leadership, especially in infrastructure, human capital development, education, health, and security, was second to none, for the fact that what we witnessed was not mere propaganda but development with a human face”
On Road Infrastructure, Okoduwa said, IYAMIDR Nigeria team discovered that the governor did the seven wonders that restored dignity, adding that roads that previously ended in bushes have been fully transformed into dual carriageways, with solar-powered street lights, walkways, and integrated security cameras.
“At night in Swali, Ekeki and Igbogene, market women now close late without fear, while school children now walk home on well paved walkways without fear of traffic accidents.
“The standard, in our assessment, rivals what we see in parts of Europe, but more importantly, it restores safety and time to ordinary families”.
For Human Capital Development, we visited the Bayelsa State Institute of Vocational Training, where young people are being trained in skills that will keep them from risky migration as a result of idleness.
“We were also conducted round the newly built standard Commissioners and Legislative Quarters, a clear indication that the Diri administration is investing in the dignity and efficiency of governance institutions”.
“On Security and Health Innovation for the Riverine People, we discovered that the administration has procured drones for the delivery of drugs to riverine communities.
“Generally, Governor Diri is ahead of other states in health, education, infrastructure, security, yet he is not making noise about it.” That silence is political. In a season where many shout, this administration is building.
“Based on what we saw from our overall assessment, Bayelsa has a leader who understands that true politics is service. A leader with focus, foresight, and courage. A leader building for the next generation, not just for the next election cycle. In political terms, this is the difference between motion and movement. Between noise and legacy”, IYAMIDR Nigeria Executive Director declared.
