The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a man identified as Odigie Moses in Ekpoma, Edo State, over an alleged sextortion case involving an Indian woman and $1,100.
According to a statement by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, Moses allegedly presented himself online as a spiritualist with healing powers and was contacted by the woman seeking spiritual intervention for personal challenges.
The EFCC alleged that Moses persuaded the woman to participate in a nude spiritual bath, which he recorded without her consent. He allegedly subsequently threatened to make the recording public unless she paid him money. The commission said its investigation found that the woman paid $1,100 to prevent the alleged release of the recording.
Moses was arrested in Ekpoma and is currently assisting with the investigation, according to the EFCC.The commission said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of its investigation.
