Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly rebuked an unnamed family member in a series of posts on X, where he accused him of political opportunism, disloyalty, and personal misconduct.
Bashir made the remarks on Saturday through his verified account, @BashirElRufai, in a public outburst that centred on his relative’s alleged political dealings with Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and his subsequent movement to the African Democratic Congress (APC).
Without naming the person, Bashir alleged that his brother had supported Sani until he felt politically abandoned after which he switched allegiance to the ADC and began speaking about family loyalty.
He wrote that the individual had been “stuck with Uba Sanni until he realised he is being dumped then suddenly remembered family loyalty and moved to ADC.”

Bashir further accused the relative of pursuing personal interests while he and others were openly criticising Sani. He said the same person had previously asked him to moderate his criticism of the governor whom the individual had served as a former political boss.
The dispute then moved beyond politics; Bashir is said to have been making unverified allegations about his relative’s private conduct. He claimed the person drank alcohol and alleged that an unidentified substance was regularly found around his nostrils.
Those claims were made by Bashir and have not been independently substantiated.
In another post, Bashir issued a blunt warning to the family member, saying, “Stay the f..k away from my affairs.”
He also declared that he had outgrown the individual and had no need for him. He added that the person could “drink in peace and command” his supporters.
Some of the more damaging posts were later deleted, apparently after Bashir came under pressure from unnamed persons.
The public confrontation has drawn reactions from some Nigerians who expressed concern over the nature of the exchange and called for both sides to halt the escalation.
The incident adds another layer to the political tensions surrounding the El-Rufai family, whose patriarch, Nasir El-Rufai, has been involved in a series of political and legal controversies since leaving office as Kaduna governor.
However, the recent dispute is principally a family confrontation played out publicly on social media, with Bashir’s statements directed at a relative whose identity he did not disclose.
No response has been made by the unnamed family member and no independent evidence was presented to establish the allegations concerning his alleged conduct.
