Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the immediate training of 1,000 teachers under his administration’s 120-Day Emergency Intervention Plan for the education sector.
The deputy governor, Malam Mani Mumuni, announced this yesterday at the closing ceremony of a capacity building programme for 250 teachers held at the Zamfara College of Arts and Sciences.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, Mumuni said the training demonstrated the government’s commitment to overhauling education in the state.
“Education remains the cornerstone of the Rescue Mission Agenda of the present administration,” he said.
“This is why our government declared a State of Emergency on Education and has continued to invest in policies, infrastructure, teacher development and institutional reforms aimed at restoring confidence in our education system.”
The deputy governor charged the trained teachers to translate the knowledge acquired into better classroom practices and improved learning outcomes.
“This training is not an end in itself; rather, it is the beginning of a renewed commitment to excellence.
We expect every participant to return to their various schools, offices and communities with renewed energy, professionalism and a determination to improve teaching, learning and educational management at all levels,” he said.
