He Was Selected, Doesn’t Know How To Win — Davido Hits Okpebholo Again

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken another swipe at Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, accusing him of not knowing what it takes to win an election.
Davido, who is the nephew of Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke, made the remarks while responding to a question on whether he would apologise to Okpebholo for uploading his WAEC certificate during an exclusive interview with News Central on Tuesday in Osun State.
“I’m not going to apologise. I didn’t do anything wrong. I was just telling people of the state the result their governor has,” he said.
“You left your state, came to another state, to rig o. First, you came to rig, then you start talking that my uncle is a dancer, that he’s not serious. The road to your government house is not done. First of all, you were not even elected. You were selected. You didn’t win those votes, sir. You don’t know what it is to win an election. That’s why you could go there and talk. And I feel so bad for his kids. You’re abusing a sitting governor in his own state.”
Davido also mocked Okpebholo over his reported stay in a hotel.
“A whole governor staying in a hotel, walking around a hotel. Anyhow sir, finish your three years. We will visit you when it’s time for you to get reelected,” Davido added.
The controversy started after Okpebholo criticised Adeleke during political activities ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
The Edo governor had mocked Adeleke over his frequent dancing, questioning his leadership style while campaigning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
Davido, who actively campaigned for his uncle during the election, subsequently shared what appeared to be Okpebholo’s West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on his Instagram Story.
The post, which carried no caption, generated reactions on social media. Some described Davido’s action as inappropriate and disrespectful and called on the singer to apologise.
Davido, however, has maintained his stance, with his latest comments further escalating the exchange between the singer and the Edo governor.
