“I Bought the G¥n for Self-Defense but Used It to Steal After My Food Finished” – Local Th!3f Confesses in Cross River

• Offei Wilson, an aluminium work apprentice in Cross River State, has explained that he acquired a locally made g¥n for self-defense but later decided to use it to obtain money after running out of food and losing his phone.
• Wilson said he approached two people and was eventually arrested by security personnel while attempting to return a phone he had collected from one of them. His explanation has sparked mixed reactions online.

A man identified as Offei Wilson from Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State has explained why he was apprehended while carrying a locally made g¥n after allegedly attempting to obtain money from people in Calabar.

Wilson, who said he is learning aluminium work in Calabar, claimed he initially acquired the g¥n for personal safety and never intended to sh++t anyone.

According to him, his decision to use the we@pon came after his phone was stolen and he ran out of food, leaving him unable to contact his family for financial assistance.

“First of all, I bought it for my own safety. Maybe if I have issues or somebody has done something that has annoyed me, and not just sh++ting him, but showing it to him that I’m capable of doing it, but he should not try my part,” he said.

Wilson said that after discovering he had run out of foodstuff, he remembered he had the locally made p#stol and decided to take it with him while looking for money.

He admitted approaching two people. He said the first person declined his request for money, after which he left without h@rming him.

According to Wilson, another man later gave him money and his phone, but he had a change of heart and decided to return the device.

“So I told him to give me his phone, which he did, he gave me his phone. So in the process of going, I turned and said no, that since he has tried to obey me, let me go back and give him his phone,” he recounted.

He said he was apprehended by security personnel around 3pm while attempting to return the phone.

Wilson further disclosed that he initially threw the we@pon away after he was caught but later retrieved it and handed it over to the security personnel.

He said he obtained the ammunition from Anambra State, while the locally made p#stol was produced by an individual whose identity he claimed would be disclosed during investigation.

Wilson maintained that he did not succeed in his attempts to obtain money from the people he approached.

The incident has since sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning his explanation and others commenting on his decision to carry a g¥n over lack of food.
