In a separate attack, illegal settlers damaged part of the electricity network in the town of Madama, south of Nablus.
Madama village council head Rami Nassar said settlers from a recently established illegal outpost between Beita, Tell and Madama damaged electricity poles supplying the town.
The attack, the second in a week, caused power outages in parts of Madama after sections of the network were destroyed, Nassar said.
Communities south of Nablus, including Jalud, Qaryut, Talfit, Qusra and Madama, have witnessed a surge in illegal settler attacks in recent weeks, including arson, assaults on residents, attacks on homes and the destruction of infrastructure and farmland, according to Palestinian sources.
Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, Israeli military raids and illegal settler attacks across the occupied West Bank have intensified.
According to official Palestinian figures, more than 1,182 Palestinians have been killed, around 13,000 injured and nearly 24,000 arrested across the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, during the same period.
Palestinians say continued military raids, illegal settler attacks, home demolitions, land seizures and settlement expansion are aimed at paving the way for the formal annexation of the occupied West Bank, undermining the prospect of establishing a Palestinian state under relevant UN resolutions.
