“No product I can mention” — APC member stumbles when asked what Tinubu has reduced in price since 2023

An All Progressives Congress (APC) member has struggled to name a single product whose price has dropped since President Bola Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.

The man made the admission during a street interview in which he declared his intention to vote for Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

When the interviewer asked him to identify a commodity that had become cheaper under the president’s administration, the APC member acknowledged the difficulty of naming one.

APC member defends Tinubu’s administration

During the interview, the man said he would vote for Tinubu because of his membership of the ruling APC.

The interviewer expressed excitement at meeting an APC supporter, explaining that he had repeatedly asked Nigerians to identify products whose prices had fallen under the current administration but had not received a satisfactory answer.

He asked the man to name one item that had become cheaper since Tinubu became president.

In response, the APC member argued that prices in Nigeria rarely fall once they have increased.

“I won’t say anything precisely because in Nigeria currently, anything that goes up remains there,” he said.

He added that even if the government introduced measures to bring prices down, the effects would take time to become noticeable.

Man cites Tinubu’s investment in education

Rather than identify a product whose price had dropped, the APC member defended the president’s performance by highlighting his administration’s investment in education.

He maintained that the government had done considerable work in the sector, pointing to the experiences of students as evidence.

However, the interviewer insisted that the question was specifically about the cost of goods and services, not the government’s achievements in other sectors.

He asked the man to mention one commodity, citing rice and other everyday items as examples of products whose prices Nigerians would want to see reduced.

The interviewer also challenged him to identify any product that had become more affordable under the APC-led government to ease the financial burden on Nigerians.

“No product I can mention”

Despite the repeated questions, the APC member could not name a single product.

When the interviewer again asked him to identify one commodity whose price the government had reduced, he responded: “No product I can mention.”

The exchange has drawn attention to concerns about the cost of living and the impact of rising prices on Nigerian households under Tinubu’s administration.

Since taking office in May 2023, the president’s government has implemented major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system.

These measures have been accompanied by significant increases in the cost of living, although the prices of individual goods have varied over time.

The interview comes as political conversations around the 2027 general election continue, with the performance of the Tinubu administration likely to remain a major issue for voters.
