Nigerian comedian and content creator Cute Abiola has spoken out after an outfit he wore in an MTN advertisement triggered accusations of cult affiliation on social media.
The comedian took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, to clear the air after noticing that some social media users had linked the outfit to cult!sm.
In a video shared with his followers, Cute Abiola appeared concerned as he explained that the clothing was strictly part of an MTN advertising campaign. He stressed that he had no reason to wear the outfit outside the brand’s production.
According to the comedian, he initially chose to ignore the comments made under his earlier post. However, he decided to address the issue after similar accusations started finding their way into his private messages.
“This cloth is for MTN advert that I did, and nothing else. I’m not anything because I have to make this video to debunk it.”
Cute Abiola further denied having any connection with a cult group or any other organisation, explaining that his only identity in that regard is his faith.
“I’m not into anything or in any way, or associate myself, I’m just a Muslim. I’m just a man,” he added.
The comedian also reacted to suggestions that his decision to address the allegations meant he was frightened. While admitting that people were free to interpret his response however they wanted, he maintained that he simply felt the need to set the record straight.
“Not that I am scared, but I just have to say it. And if you say I’m scared, I’m scared, please,” he said.
