Josh Allen ‘Angry’ With Reporter Who Leaked News Of Teammate’s Son’s Death

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has his teammates’ backs until the very end. After the Bills’ recent preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, Allen spoke with the media about his teammate Ed Oliver, and the tragic death of his two-year-old son. In his statement, Allen said he was grateful for those who knew about the devastating news but kept the information private. After that, he slammed the reporter who did share the news, saying it made him “sad and angry.”
Allen expressed his gratitude in his statement, saying he wanted to personally thank “the ones that knew about it allowed him to have his moment,” referring to Oliver. Directly after, he turned his attention to those who chose to share the news despite it being a difficult moment. “It’s very sad in how it came out. It makes me very sad and angry,” he said.
Allen said that while the events are unfortunate, his job is to be the best teammate he can be by loving Oliver during the challenging time. “There’s nothing that you can say to make the situation any better except being there in whatever ways he needs.”
Josh Allen Is Taking His Role As A Teammate Seriously During This Matter
3Allen has been part of the Bills roster since 2018, and the headline-making QB said he’s learned a thing or two about being a good teammate during his years in the league.
“There’s nothing that you can say. There’s nothing that you can do. You have to let someone in a situation like that feel what they feel and do what they need to do,” he said. “As his teammates, that’s what we’ve been doing is giving him his space and time, but at the same time being around him, loving up on him, but not trying to do anything to reopen that. I understand lot of the guys in the locker room knew, especially on the D-line.”
And Allen isn’t the only athlete to call out the media for intruding on public figures’ personal lives. NFL star Marshawn Lynch has also criticized reporters for their aggressive approach, saying it made him less willing to engage with the media.
“I don’t know what story you’re trying to get out of me, I don’t know what image y’all are trying to portray of me, but it don’t matter what yall think, what y’all say about me,” he said. “Y’all shove cameras and microphones down my throat. But when I’m at home in my environment, I don’t see y’all, but y’all mad at me. And if you ain’t mad at me, then what y’all here for? I ain’t got nothing for y’all, though. I told y’all that.”
Josh Allen’s Teammate’s Son Died After Drowning In A Pool
For those who may be unfamiliar, Allen’s teammate, Ed Oliver, lost his son earlier this year after he drowned in a pool. According to The Blast, local officials and emergency personnel responded to a call about a potential life-in-danger on June 28. Upon arrival, they found the son of the Bills lineman unresponsive before later pronouncing him dead.
“On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son,” the Bills said in a statement. “It’s an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss.”
Bills Fans Show Support To Oliver And His Family
3Bills fans rushed to Oliver’s Instagram after the news of his loss was shared online, offering support and sharing their condolences.
