The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent spate of brutal bandit attacks across Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina States, which have resulted in numerous deaths, kidnappings, and horrific acts of violence against innocent civilians.
In a press release signed by the National President, Hon. Khalil Mohd Bello, the association described the situation as “inhuman, barbaric, and an assault on our shared humanity and on Nigeria’s food security.”
The statement echoed the profound sorrow and outrage felt by the association as they highlighted the tragic consequences of the violence, including the burning of individuals alive and the targeting of vulnerable populations such as women and children.
“What crime have these innocent farmers, women, children, and the elderly committed to deserve such cruelty?” asked Hon. Bello, urging a return to humanity amid the escalating violence.
KACRAN called on the bandits to embrace dialogue and cease all violent actions against innocent citizens, insisting that the killing and suffering of fellow human beings are grave crimes. Additionally, they appealed to volunteer groups to halt extrajudicial killings of innocent pastoralists, urging that not every member of the Fulani community is a bandit, and that profiling only perpetuates the cycle of violence.
In his address, Hon. Bello challenged Northern leaders—including politicians, traditional rulers, and community elders—to rise and confront the insecurity currently plaguing the North West and North Central regions of Nigeria. He expressed optimism that, with committed leadership, the ongoing conflicts could be resolved through engagement and justice rather than bloodshed.
Furthermore, KACRAN appealed to the Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to adopt the KACRAN National Peace Roadmap. This proposal emphasizes community engagement, the protection of farmlands, and the strategic reintegration of repentant bandits into society as a means to foster peace and stability.
KACRAN committed to collaborating with government and security agencies to restore trust and prosperity throughout Nigeria, reminding all stakeholders that with sincerity and political will, peace can be achieved swiftly.
