Kidnappers holding businessman Chief Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, father of Nigerian socialite Jowizaza, have reportedly increased their ransom demand from N700 million to N1.5 billion.

Ezeokafor, Chairman of Jezco Group, was reportedly abducted more than a week ago after leaving his residence for a prayer ground in Anambra State.

According to a source close to the family, the kidnappers initially demanded N700 million, with the family reportedly willing to negotiate for his release. However, the demand was later increased to N1.5 billion.

The source said the family remained ready to do what was necessary to secure the businessman’s safe return, but the kidnappers have reportedly stopped communicating.

“The family has been willing to negotiate and do whatever is necessary to secure his release, but the kidnappers have suddenly stopped communicating,” the source said.

The reported communication breakdown has heightened concerns over Ezeokafor’s safety, with his family and associates said to be increasingly worried about his condition.

More than a week after the reported abduction, the Anambra State Police Command and state government were reportedly yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

The development has also sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning the circumstances surrounding the abduction and calling for urgent efforts to secure Ezeokafor’s release.
