Klint Da Drunk Reveals Liquor Brands Cut Ties Over His Comedy Character

Nigerian comedian Afamefuna Igwemba, popularly known as Klint Da Drunk, has revealed that some liquor brands stopped working with him because of the drunken character that became a defining part of his comedy career.

Speaking to Sunday Scoop, the comedian said several alcohol brands previously embraced his character and hired him for promotional work, but their attitude changed over time.

Klint Da Drunk said brands including Lager Beer, Nigerian Breweries, Guinness and Glenfiddich had worked with him in the past but later concluded that his character presented their products negatively.

The comedian said he found the decision ironic, arguing that his character could instead be used to promote responsible drinking.

“I feel I should be the face of ‘Drink responsibly’,” he said, explaining that he could encourage audiences not to emulate his drunken character and to consume alcohol responsibly.

Beyond his experience with brands, Klint Da Drunk also criticised what he described as a decline in morality within contemporary comedy.

He argued that comedy itself was not the problem, but that some comedians had abandoned the respect and restraint that previously guided entertainment.

According to him, vulgar content has increasingly become accepted at weddings, corporate events and other public gatherings, while comedians who avoid offensive material can struggle to gain the same attention.

Despite the changing landscape, Klint Da Drunk said he intends to remain committed to clean comedy.

He added that he was increasingly incorporating gospel themes into his content while ensuring it remains accessible to a broad audience.
