Kwara Monarchs Commend APC Government, Pledge Support As Party Concludes Kwara South Tour

Traditional rulers in Kwara South on Monday commended the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for projects executed in their communities, while assuring candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of their support ahead of the 2027 general election.

The assurances came as the APC governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, led other party candidates to Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas to conclude the party’s three-day appreciation tour of Kwara South.

The delegation had earlier visited Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Oyun, Offa and Irepodun local government areas, where it met with traditional rulers, party leaders and stakeholders.

At Igbaja in Ifelodun Local Government, the Elese of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola Awuni Arepo III, described Danladi’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate as divinely ordained and urged residents to support the party in the 2027 elections.

The monarch also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and key APC leaders for what he described as an equitable zoning arrangement that produced an Igbomina candidate for the Kwara South senatorial seat after previous turns by Ekiti and Ibolo. He said the decision reflected fairness and inclusiveness, and prayed for the success of all APC candidates.

At the palace of the Olusin of Isanlu-Isin and Chairman of the Isin Local Government Traditional Council, Oba (Dr.) Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede (Atobatele II), the royal father said Isin had recorded notable improvements under the present administration, particularly in education and security.

According to him, the community had benefited from investments in school infrastructure and ongoing efforts to tackle security challenges, adding that residents were prepared to reciprocate the government’s interventions with electoral support.

Responding, Danladi thanked the traditional rulers, religious leaders and residents of Isin for their continued support for the AbdulRazaq administration and President Tinubu.

He acknowledged the security concerns facing parts of the local government and assured the people that the state government remained committed to restoring lasting peace.

Danladi said the visit was intended to appreciate traditional institutions and stakeholders for their support before the commencement of the official election campaign, promising that an APC administration under his leadership would build on the achievements of the current government.

“We will not disappoint the people of Kwara. Our commitment is to sustain and improve on the developmental strides recorded by the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration,” he said.

The APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District, Prince Lekan Adewoye, expressed appreciation for the reception accorded the delegation, saying it reflected the party’s support base in the area.

Similarly, the APC candidate for the Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Mrs Florence Olasumbo Oyeyemi, thanked party members for their loyalty and pledged quality representation if elected.

The APC candidate for the Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, said the tour was organised to appreciate traditional rulers and stakeholders for their support of the AbdulRazaq administration, assuring them that the party’s candidates would remain committed to good governance.

Council chairmen, party leaders, traditional rulers and supporters attended the engagements in Isin and Ifelodun as the APC wrapped up its appreciation tour of Kwara South ahead of the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 elections.
