Residents from different cultural backgrounds gathered at Albert Park, Grecian Street, Broughton, Salford, for the African Diversity Celebration Family Picnic organised by Mancunian Aidable CIC. The free event, which formed part of Salford City’s centenary anniversary celebrations, attracted families, community leaders and visitors who came together to celebrate African culture, promote unity and strengthen community ties.
The event featured a variety of cultural performances and entertainment, including energetic Zulu dance displays, samba drumming performances by a Brazilian troupe, and live Afrobeat and Amapiano music. Guests also participated in games, raffle draws with prizes, and funfair rides designed for both children and adults, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the day.

Speaking during the celebration, organisers said the programme was designed to promote cultural diversity while providing an opportunity for people of different backgrounds to interact, appreciate one another’s heritage and foster social inclusion. They noted that the gathering reflected Mancunian Aidable CIC’s commitment to its motto, “Unity in Diversity, Strength in Service,” by encouraging stronger community relationships through cultural exchange.
Participants described the event as colourful, entertaining and family-friendly, praising the organisers for bringing together different cultures in a peaceful environment. They expressed hope that similar programmes would continue in the future, saying such initiatives help preserve African heritage, encourage multicultural understanding and strengthen unity within the wider Salford community.
